Bright and Modern Tech Office in Midtown Atlanta
This start up tech company in midtown Atlanta took over more space in their building for their growing team members. They hired a commercial firm to do the space planning and figure out how to accommodate the departments and teams, how to utilize the space for maximum conference rooms and lounge space.
They hired me to select the finishes and furnish the public areas because they wanted the office to feel stylish and be super comfortable, almost like a hotel lobby.
Oh sure, we can do that. : )
The commercial design firm artiulated where things would go as shown below. It starts with a black and white outline and then we color in the details.
They provided a rendering below to help the client see what it would look like. It was a little basic so we punched it up.
We decided to use the companie’s brand colors as a start and selcted interesting, more sculptural furnishings. In the design board below you can see how the lounge area furnishings come together and relate, down to the pillows and the art.
I just love each and every piece!
And it always looks better in real life because…well… it’s not flat! It’s three dimensional.
These are restaurant style banquettes where the employees can have lunch or have a meeting. The high backs offer privacy.
We used a graphic FLOR tile as the focal point and the pendant lights are made of wood.
Here’s a view from the back corner looking into the kitchen. There are about 50 employees in this office so plenty of seating for all. They like to have their company meetings here and have a large white projection wall where they can beam in remote employees.
Additional counter seating for employees who want some natural light while they work. I added a few lamps around to make it feel more personal. Overhead lighting can feel clinical.
A rendering of the dining area below. We kept the flooring and the shape of the table and updated the rest.
The fabric wall adds sound proofing and can be opened to join the two spaces. It’s very seventies with the wood veneer and plants everywhere!
In the boardroom rendering below you can see the wall to wall carpet they selected that we worked with.
Ours is better don’t you think? We colored it in with dark painted walls and a beautiful blue custom sofa and interesting art. The sculptural greenery helps to soften the space. We added traversing sheer drapery around the entire room to create softness and block the harsh sunlight.
I do love this carpet! The table is 14 feet long .. it’s hard to find that size and the chairs are very classic.
The yellow is very yellow but they wanted to make sure no one was sleeping on the job.
The kitchen is very simple but has a lovely quartz counter and some great counter stools and pendant lights from Blue Dot.
In one of the smaller conference rooms we added benches and a few additional chairs, some colorful pillows and art.
Again, so much better in real life! We brought in a couple of yellow chairs to brighten it up. Now they can easily fit 12 people in here.
Nice assortment of colorful pillows below.
I made the pillows below for the board room but I loved them equally in this room. It’s so fun when you can mix and match. They say that a room design is never done. It’s a living, evolving thing and fun to always play.
In the yellow conference room we added a sculptural table and comfy chairs.
On the far side of the office is the coffee bar. You can see the original rendering and their specs. We augmented it slightly.
We are still waiting for the stools to come in. Sigh. Sometimes things just get backordered.
I love the dark cabinets with the dark quartz top and those super cute lucite lamps.
I have so many great sources for art and it’s one of my favorite elements in any project.
The end.
